The Biggest SF Office Leases
As we mentioned above, San Francisco's office market is entering a new phase as the companies driving downtown growth look very different from those that dominated just a few years ago. Specifically, while several major technology firms have downsized their office footprints since the pandemic, fast-growing AI companies including Anthropic, OpenAI, Harvey, and Databricks, along with expanding law firms, are signing some of the city's largest new leases. The result is a meaningful turnaround, with net leased office space moving back into positive territory as millions of square feet are reoccupied. Demand continues to favor high quality Class A buildings. AS a result, building owners are responding with extensive renovations and upgraded amenities designed to attract both tenants and employees back to the office.
For the Bay Area landscape industry, this renewed investment points to growing opportunities for interior plantscapes, campus landscaping, rooftop gardens, and other outdoor spaces as downtown San Francisco continues its recovery. Hopefully, the rest of the bay area will also benefit from the AI boom.
