We at Sunborne are pleased to introduce the Planter Technology's new CWI Controlled Watering Inserts. This product ties in perfectly with our commitment to make your job easier and to reduce plant replacement costs. The CWI integrates the Planter Technology's unique Controlled Watering System into an inexpensive leak-proof insert. The CWI is sized to fit into most decorative containers, and accept the common grow pot sizes.
A very important feature of CWI's sub irrigation process is that it keeps salts in solution, and brings them towards the surface, away form the feeding roots. In contrast, with the typical "top watering method", salts will continuously accumulate. This accumulation of salts will damage the plant's root system, causing yellowing, tipping and is a primary cause for the decline of plants and the need for replacements on the job site.

The new CWI integrates Planter Technology's patented CWS vacuum-sensor technology which precisely balances soil moisture and oxygen levels on its own, for the healthiest stress-free plants and lowest replacements.
Here is how it works: When the soil is dry (the plant needs water), the dry porous moisture sensor allows air to pass through the tube into the reservoir, allowing water to flow into the container from the bottom. The water wicks through the soil, irrigating the plant.
As the soil becomes moist, the sensor absorbs water. When wet, it acts like a valve, blocking the flow of air through the tube. A vacuum is created above the reservoir, preventing further watering until soil begins to dry again.
See "How It Works" Illustration.
The CWI is truly a self-watering system complete with a large reservoir that allows for comfortable 2-4 week maintenance intervals. With the CWI, your technician spends less time watering, leaving more time for grooming and cleaning the plant. The infrequency of needing to refill the reservoir increases operational flexibility and thus reduces "misses" when the technician is sick, the route changes, vacations or holidays.
