Quality, that says it all. First, Sunborne Nursery starts with the highest quality hand selected Hawaiian Dracaenas, palms, and a variety of vigorous California and Florida Grown tropical foliage plants. Combined with our value added services, we save you time and make your job EASIER.
All Sunborne Hawaiian Dracaenas are acclimated to lower light conditions of approximately 100 to 200 foot candles. We accomplish this over time, by balancing a combination of proper green house glazing, appropriate shade cloth for the season, and being housed under a dense canopy of hanging plants. The acclimation process prepares our Dracaenas for the artificial lighting conditions of the typical interior environment and ensures longevity while at the job site. This translates to value.
Our trees are treated as living sculpture. We meticulously prune all Ficus trees to open up the centers to the available light. This significantly reduces thinning out and leaf drop which otherwise would occur immediately after being installed on the job. The tree's energies then go directly to the remaining foliage and force new, soft, larger leaf growth that is more durable for interior usage.
What's different about Sunborne? We see ourselves as part of your production team. We trim and wash all plants before delivery to your warehouse or job site. Our trimming process on Dracaenas is quite unique. A sharp single edge razor is used in making clean cuts that heal and are invisible to the eye. We regularly change razors to insure seamless sharp cuts.
Our washing process also saves you time. It involves spraying down the plants with Sunspray, which is an ultra fine horticultural spray oil. When applied at a dilution rate of less than 1 %, Sunspray removes dust and rinses off mineral and chemical deposits. The result is a lustrous, naturally clean looking plant. As an added benefit, Sunspray also acts as a preventative pesticide.
